Hi adam, everyone
Is there any benchmark or new functions list, arguments for upgrading to V5 ?
I don't know what exactly I'm looking for, maybe sketchlightup ?
For sure I need - would like - animation to match sketchup scenes :
- hidden objects
- sections
- good transition between ext. and int. (to much or not enough light)
- what else ????
V5 vs V4 ?

Generally, look at this page to see what each version adds:

If you have an example that does not, please share it with us.

LightUp should now match SketchUp scene animation.- animation to match sketchup scenes
If you have an example that does not, please share it with us.
- we support a single realtime animated section cut. We're not going to support embedded Section Cuts.- hidden objects

Hi Adam
Lightup Scenes DO match Sketchup Scenes.
But not when some objects are hidden in some and visible in other.
I would have liked - even if not possible
- to match ALL sketchup capacities because they are clever.
Hiding objets between a scene and the next one, is a very good way of explaning a project.
Next, sections.
single realtime animated section cut ?
I dont know what this applies to.
I use skalp plug in.
And even if I dont, if I render Lightup on a scene with no section, all scenes are rendered with no active section.
Again, scrolling from a normal scene to a section sections is a convenient way of showing a projects.
Last, but not least
Interior / Exteriour check boxes.
Would be pleasent not to have to apply.
If you could automatically ajust exposure when going in and out, would be (like real life) such a pleasent way to work...
Performance.
Ambient Occlusion lighting : is it the main standard render mode ?
I'll download V5 and do my benchmark on a big file.
Thanks

Re: V5 vs V4 ?
rendering times
V4 5.20mn
V5 4.20mn
sketchup file 20Mb
luca files
V4 11.68Mb
V5 14.49Mb
Fisrt look Differences :
Uncorrect facing faces (inverted on 2d faceme components) where not rendered on V4
Now rendered but gray (better)
Rendered files

Will check for other changes...
Thanks

Re: V5 vs V4 ?
OK it's me again
I found :
Just render and click on the light, then ajust color, type, power
Need to be close to the light to be able to select...
No need for help on this point.
I noticed that some light source do shine, others don't
Is there an issue for this ?

Re: V5 vs V4 ?
If you have "Corona" check on a PointLightSource, LightUp will show a 'lens shine' around it if there is a direct line of sight between the viewpoint and the PointLightSource.
I known issue is that the coronas are blocked by transparent surfaces - eg a glass window.
