Installing LightUp on Windows
LightUp downloads as a compressed ZIP file. You need to open the zip file and follow these 4 steps to installing:
When the install is complete, you can delete the 2 files on your Desktop, and launch SketchUp to enter your Registration Key.

Re: Installing LightUp on Windows
I attempted to install Lightup for Sketchup 14 Pro - Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. I had it installed on Sketchup 8 in the past. Sketchup 8 has been uninstalled. I followed the procedure which is fairly self explanatory when installing. I selected this directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\SketchUp\SketchUp 2014\. This is what I get when starting up Sketchup
"LightUp is missing files. Please re-install."
Then "Load Errors"
Error Loading File C:/Program Files (x86)/SketchUp/SketchUp 2014/Tools/lightup/lightmapui.rb
Error: #<NameError: uninitialized constant LMapExt>
C:/Program Files (x86)/SketchUp/SketchUp 2014/Tools/lightup/lightmapui.rb:99:in `registrationkey'

C:/Program Files (x86)/SketchUp/SketchUp 2014/Tools/lightuptools.rb:11:in `<top (required)>'
Where did I go wrong? I've uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled a few times and consistently get the same problem.

Re: Installing LightUp on Windows
SketchUp 2014 switched to a new version of Ruby which is incompatible with previous versions used in SU6,SU7,SU8,SU2013.
You''l need to get the latest version of LightUp which supports SU2014.

I'm trying to install v4.0e and message when I run the installer even though I have extracted the files to my desktop.
"You must first unzip the LightUp download before Launching the Installer."
No sure what I"m missing.

Re: Installing LightUp on Windows
Windows has built-in support for zip files, so you can open them in Explorer and it looks just like regular files. However, they are still actually in the zip archive, so if you launch the installer, it cannot find the files it needs - because they're still in the zip file.cchin wrote:I'm trying to install v4.0e and message when I run the installer even though I have extracted the files to my desktop.

You need to really move them out of this zip file (onto your Desktop is a convenient place), then run the Installer "LightUp.msi".
Afterward, you can remove those files from your Desktop.

This does not fix the error. I have a fully paid version of Lightup, I have followed your extraction method to desktop, and still it will not install, "download must first be extracted..."

Yeah, it's still not working for me. I'm able to install it on another computer so I suspect that my msi installer is in a bad state.
I'll try repairing it and report back if that works.

Check menu View->Tool Palettes has LightUp listed which indicates its installed.natread wrote:i'm not getting the promt on sketchup to type in the activation code. no clue what is going on, it says it downloaded correctly.
If it is not, the most likely problem is that you have installed LightUp - but not for the version of SketchUp you're using. Just run the the installer again and amend the installation location.
